Upcycled solar lights
I spent most of the day out on the deck doing 3 upcycled solar lights. I'm tired, my back hurts, but I am so glad I finally had time to do them. One has been waiting for over a year.
I had to disassemble a hummingbird light on a stake with a spinner because it was broken.

Not sure how that happened, but I'm guessing raccoons. I sure hope my rewiring job on it works out.
I have collected a lot of crystals from old lamps and it was always in my head to upcycle with them. I am so happy with the results!

I had to take the broken solar decor apart and splice the wires back together. I checked several tiles to be sure the let's lit before finishing the piece.
I used a vintage wire egg basket my friend, Gary, gave me. The moment I saw it I knew I wanted it to be a light! Over a year later I finally have it put together!!!
I removed the two wires that were in the bottom and secured the basket to a macrame ring. I probably didn't have to but it was easier to make the spaces more even and tight.

The ring loong uneven in the photo, but it isn't. The angle at which I took it just looks off.
Once all the spokes were secure I started wire wrapping the solar light to the basket. Next I cut the wires and pulled it out of the metal tube that originally held the solar light.
I had to punch holes in the leaves to wrap wire to the light and around the ring. I needed 3 sets of hands for the next half hour, but none were available. 😆 🤣 😂
I must have dropped it 5 times total. Luckily the bulb is plastic and it has fairy lights inside it. No breakage occurred.
I put a hanger on it and used my tripod to hold the lamp while I added bling!!!
Simply wiring strands of vintage crystals to the frame was time consuming but well worth the time spent.
These are the purchases solar lights which had nothing but the wire cages. I added the hanging crystals to them.
